Pakistan Exports to Afghanistan Witness a 3.63% Increase Over 6 Months
Pakistan trade of commodities and services with Afghanistan experienced a surge of 3.63% within the initial half of the ongoing fiscal year (2023-24), marking an upswing compared to the corresponding timeframe of the previous year, as indicated by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) report.
The collective exports directed to Afghanistan reached a noteworthy figure of $260.716 million spanning from July to December (2023-24). This contrasts with the export sum of $251.580 million recorded during the equivalent period in the fiscal year (2022-23), according to data disclosed by the SBP.
Analyzing the data on a year-to-year basis, there was, however, a decline of 26.83% in exports to Afghanistan, dropping from $38.297 million in December 2022 to $28.019 million in December 2023.
Moreover, from a month-to-month perspective, the exports to Afghanistan experienced a significant decrease of 46.02% in December 2023 in comparison to the $51.911 million recorded in November 2023. In contrast, Pakistan overall exports to various other nations demonstrated an increase of 4.99% within the initial six months, escalating from $14.222 billion to $15.288 billion.
